President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Bishkek, opening the talks by congratulating Pakistan on assuming the rotating chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The two leaders noted that Mirziyoyev's landmark visit to Islamabad last February, along with the high-level meetings that followed, had lifted bilateral relations to a new qualitative stage.

During the talks, the sides discussed further expanding cooperation in trade, investment, transport and logistics. They also addressed ways to deepen interregional and humanitarian ties, noting preparations underway for an interregional forum to be held in Khiva this year, as well as plans to organize days of Uzbek culture and cinema in Pakistan.

The two leaders agreed to adopt a joint roadmap aimed at accelerating projects in textiles, medicine, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other key sectors.
