A court in Kashkadarya Region has sentenced a former military serviceman to five years in prison for the fatal beating of his 15-year-old daughter.
The assault reportedly began after the teenager took 400,000 Uzbek soums (approximately $31) from his wallet without permission.
According to court documents, the defendant, identified as Q.J., 44, had served as a mechanic-driver in a tank battalion at a local military base in the Muborak District from May 2005 until March 11, 2025. Upon learning that his military contract had been terminated, Q.J. returned to his rented apartment and began packing his belongings. On March 13, he completed his checkout paperwork at the military base, returning home at approximately 8:00 p.m.
After having dinner with his family and cutting his son's hair, Q.J. planned to travel to his permanent residence in the Qarshi District. While dressing, he counted the cash in his wallet, noting that 3 million soums had been reduced to 2.6 million. When his wife denied knowing where the missing 400,000 soums went, Q.J. questioned his underage daughter, G., at around 10:00 p.m.
The teenager confessed to taking the money without permission and apologized. Rather than accepting the apology, Q.J. ordered his wife and other children out of the room and instructed his son to fetch a rolling pin from the kitchen. The son returned with a heavy wooden rolling pin measuring nearly three feet long.
The father struck his daughter's arms with such force that the wooden tool snapped in two. He then slapped her repeatedly across the face and mouth, shouting, "Why are you stealing and bringing shame upon me?"
Despite the girl crying, promising never to repeat the action, and begging him to stop, Q.J. continued to strike her arms and legs with the broken half of the rolling pin. Her mother and aunt rushed into the room to intervene, but the defendant forced them out again and continued the assault. As the victim turned her shoulders away to shield herself, multiple blows struck her upper back and shoulder blades.
The beating only stopped after the mother entered the room a second time, pleading frantically for her daughter's life.
The mother helped the teenager to the bathroom, washed her face, changed her clothes, and moved her to another room. Roughly ten minutes later, the girl collapsed and lost consciousness. When his wife and son alerted him, Q.J. attempted to revive his daughter, but she remained unresponsive. He then carried her onto a mattress in an adjacent room.
At 12:52 a.m., Q.J. called emergency services (103), reporting that his daughter was experiencing convulsions and required urgent medical care. Frustrated by delays in the ambulance arrival, he went to wake up a neighbor who worked in the healthcare sector around 1:00 a.m.
Ambulance staff arrived while the neighbor was attempting to administer first aid. Emergency medical personnel examined the teenager and pronounced her dead, estimating that she had passed away approximately thirty minutes prior to their arrival.
When paramedics stated that the local police must be notified, Q.J. told them to leave, claiming he would report the incident himself. Within fifteen minutes, police officers and prosecutors arrived at the scene.
Noticing extensive bruising on the victim's body, authorities summoned a forensic medical examiner. The initial inspection revealed severe trauma to her arms, legs, lips, and back. Q.J. then confessed to law enforcement that he had beaten his daughter and surrendered the broken rolling pin used in the assault.
"I didn't intend to kill her. I only wanted to discipline her so she wouldn't steal again. I deeply regret what I did in a fit of rage," Q.J. said in his testimony.
The forensic autopsy revealed that the victim suffered a closed traumatic brain injury, thoracic trauma, subdural hemorrhaging, and massive internal bleeding within her lung tissues, intercostal muscles, and subcutaneous layers.
The Koson District Criminal Court found Q.J. guilty under Article 104, Part 3, Paragraph "d" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Intentional Infliction of Severe Bodily Injury Resulting in Death). He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
This case follows a string of severe domestic abuse fatalities in the country. Recently, a Tashkent man received a 16-year prison sentence for the fatal beating of his partner's five-month-old infant, while a mother and stepfather in Samarkand were sentenced for their involvement in the death of a two-year-old child. Several years ago, a techer ws=as sentenced to 5 years in prison for taking 50 USD in a bribe.
