A section of asphalt collapsed on Glinka Street in Tashkent's Yakkasaray district, opening up a deep pit roughly two lanes wide in the roadway.
Videos circulating on social media show the ruptured pavement, damaged vehicles and an ambulance at the scene.
According to Tashkent's city administration, one person suffered minor injuries in the incident and received medical treatment.
The administration said relevant agencies and specialists are working at the site, and traffic on the street has been temporarily closed. "The full circumstances of the incident are being established," city officials said, adding that the situation is under special monitoring.
Veolia Energy Tashkent dispatched an emergency repair crew to the scene. "No leak has been detected so far," the company said.
Tashkent City Water Supply said the collapse occurred in the hot water supply network and does not affect drinking water systems.
Hududgaz Poytakht said no high-pressure gas pipeline runs through this section of the street and no gas leak has been found.
