First direct flights between Tashkent and Mauritius is set to be launched, the press service of the Tourism Committee announced.
Under the initial plan, four round-trip Tashkent to Mauritius flights will operate between late December and January. Starting in June 2027, the route is expected to move to a regular weekly schedule.
Beyond opening a new market for Uzbek tourism on the African continent, the route is expected to strengthen Tashkent's role as a transit hub funneling travelers from Central Asia and the CIS to Mauritius. Going forward, tourists from Kazakhstan, Russia and other CIS countries would be able to fly to Mauritius via Tashkent.
The new service is being launched under the "Open Tourism Season" program, which has run annually from June to August since 2026 and offers financial incentives to industry players. Airlines that open new routes receive a $100 subsidy for every foreign tourist they bring in, along with a 20 percent discount on airport service fees, while local tour operators receive a $5,000 subsidy for every 1,000 tourists attracted from long-haul markets.
