Courts across the provinces reviewed 2,018 criminal cases involving the harassment and abuse of women during the first half of the year, according to a report published by the Supreme Court.
The total caseload represents a 65.7 percent surge compared to the same period in 2025, rising from 1,218 cases.
A total of 2,480 individuals were prosecuted during this period. Convictions were handed down in 1,215 cases involving 1,624 individuals. This marks an increase of 337 convicted cases and 521 convicted individuals compared to the corresponding months last year.
Judges recognized 2,146 women as victims during the six-month period. The highest concentration of victims fell within the 31-to-60 age demographic (870 victims), followed closely by young women aged 18 to 30 (654 victims). Notably, 581 of the recognized victims were minors under the age of 18.
Demographic data within the report further revealed that 71 percent of those convicted (1,165 individuals) lacked permanent employment at the time their offenses were committed.
