Tashkent's bus network carried a record number of passengers on September 15, the city's Transport Department reported.
"Over the course of the day, 1,520,113 passengers used the capital's public bus services," the department said in a statement.
The report did not specify what drove the surge, though the timing points to an obvious explanation: on September 14, second-year and higher students returned to classes as the new academic year began at all universities and colleges, likely driving a sharp rise in demand for public transport.
