2.5 million-ton tungsten reserves Kuytash mine in Jizzakh province is about to be put into operation, the province’s governor office said.
Reportedly, Chinese investors will complete the mine's cleaning by the end of the year, with ore mining due to commence next year and a tungsten processing plant to be erected on the territory of the mine.
The mine, located in the southwestern part of the Nurota mountain range, is one of the largest facilities of strategic importance in Uzbekistan’s mining industry.
About 100 jobs will be created and 150 thousand tons of ore will be mined annually in phase I of the project.
