Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov landed in Samarkand on an official visit last evening, the spokesman to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
Reportedly, during the visit, the two foreign ministries are expected to discuss pressing issues of Uzbek-Russian cooperation.
According to Kommersant, the Russian Foreign Minister is also expected to meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Reportedly, the parties will focus on foreign policy cooperation in the current difficult geopolitical situation.
The parties will also consider the ways to further develop the Russia-Uzbek comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance ties by stepping up the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in May 2024.
