Fifteen young footballers from the Kazakhstan's Karaganda city have been hospitalized in Tashkent with a diagnosis of food poisoning while attending an international tournament, according to a post on Instagram.

The players developed stomach pain and high fevers after breakfast at a Tashkent hotel on Oct. 31, the post said. Within 24 hours, 15 of them had fallen ill. Parents said eight children who did not eat eggs at breakfast showed no symptoms.

Doctors diagnosed food poisoning, but laboratory tests have not yet been carried out and the cause remains unknown. Kazakhstan’s ambassador went to the scene.

“Parents are awaiting the test results and an impartial inquiry into the incident,” the post said.

Tournament officials said the affected players received timely help and that the cause of the incident is being looked into.

The players, born in 2008, came to Tashkent for the Dostlik Cup 2026 tournament.
