The paid parking along roadways is being launched on six streets in Tashkent as of May 8, announced an executive of StreetPark Systems at a press conference on May 5.

At the first stage, paid parking will cover the Amir Temur circle, Istikbol, Zarafshan, Bukhara, as well as Shakhrisabz and Mirabad streets. The total number of parking spaces will be 680. Information boards, road signs 5.15.1 (Paid parking) and 3.27 (No stopping) are already being installed in these areas, and special markings are being applied.

Many drivers are still ignoring the markings. This should change with the start of control by traffic inspectors and cameras.

By May 30, the paid parking zone will expand to 15 streets, the company added. By the end of July, the system will cover another 30 streets, and by September, it is planned to connect all 86 previously announced streets with 13,208 parking spaces.

Tariff zones for paid parking will be divided by colors with different amounts per hour: red zone - 12,000 soums, orange - 10,000 soums, green - 8,000 soums, blue - 6,000 soums, purple - 5,000 soums. Parking can be paid for through the Poytaxt Parking mobile application, Paynet terminals, as well as electronic payment systems Payme, Click, Uzum Bank and others.

According to the director of StreetPark Systems, Kudratbek Yakubov, the mobile app will help find free parking spaces. It will be available in the App Store and Google Play until May 10.

About 5% of all parking spaces are reserved for people with disabilities - these zones will be equipped with appropriate signs, and parking there without permission will entail a fine under the current rules. Parking for ambulances and emergency services will remain free.

In the near future, drivers who do not pay the parking fee will not be fined, since the of Administrative Liability Code has not included a provision on a fine for failure to pay for a paid parking space, said the company's project manager Akmal Yusupov.
