Since the end of May, when the Uzbekcosmos agency began monitoring field fires from satellites, the area where fires were recorded has exceeded 14.5 thousand hectares, the monitoring portal launched by the agency said in a report.
The top provinces by number of recorded fires:
- Andijan province - 573 cases;
- Surkhandarya province - 275 cases;
- Tashkent province - 230 cases.
According to the monitoring data, the number of fires has been steadily rising since the beginning of summer. 21 cases were recorded on June 3, the second hike occurred on June 11 - then 53 fires were registered per day. The growth became rapid in the second half of the month: 81 and 88 fires were registered on June 23 and 24, respectively, 140 on June 28, and 136 on June 30.
The agency also launched a Telegram bot, which can be used to report new fire zones by sending photos and location data directly.
