Today in the afternoon, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev landed in Turkmenistan to attend the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan trilateral summit.

In the Congress Center of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, he held talks with the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a tete-a-tete format and with the participation of official delegations, the press service of the head of state reported.

The parties discussed the ways to further expand and strengthen the Uzbek-Turkmen friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership ties.

Year-to-date, the bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan has topped 700 million dollars. Since February, a free trade regime has been in effect between the countries, and trading houses have been operating in the capitals. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and other sectors of the economy.

The parties stressed the importance of productive meetings of intergovernmental commissions and the Business Council, as well as a number of cultural events.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the agenda of the upcoming seventh Central Asia Summit.
