The Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on August 26-27, 2025. This is his first visit of a Japanese Foreign Minister to the country in the past three years.

During the visit, he is expected to be hosted by the President Mirziyoyev and hold talks with the Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on August 27. As part of the Uzbekistan-Japan strategic dialogue the two counterparts are scheduled to exchange views on the ways to further advance the ties in politics, economy and culture, and joint responses to international challenges.

Reportedly, Japan will continue to assist Uzbekistan in its economic development in personnel training, green energy, improving the quality of basic social services, and in other areas, thereby developing the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation with rapidly developing Uzbekistan.
