Local neighborhood inspectors (policemen) in Uzbekistan will all get body cameras From January 1, 2026, the deputy chief of the Crime Prevention Department of the Interior Ministry Rakhimzhon Naimov said at a press briefing Wednesday.

According to him, funds have been contributed for the purchase of devices.

“The personal safety of local policemen in their professional activities is extremely important. During their service, there have been cases of bodily harm or slander from individuals. Meanwhile, some people claim to have experienced unlawful actions by a prevention inspector, with no evidence of this. In order to address such situations, inspectors will be fully provided with body cameras,” Rakhimzhon Naimov noted.

At an extended meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council on March 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave a directive to the Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov to equip neighbourhood police stations with CCTV cameras, and each inspector with a body camera, and launch a new platform for recording offenses.

Traffic police officers in Tashkent have gotten body cameras since 2019.
