Five workers fell into an 8-meter-deep sewer manhole on the afternoon of Thursday in Bukhara city and were carried away by the current, the Bukhara province police department said.
Employees of Faiz Binokor Oltiarik enterprise were connecting pipes from new houses in the 7th microdistrict to central sewer system. Reportedly, the work was not agreed by water supply and sewerage company.
Reportedly, the lid of a 1-meter-wide manhole was opened with the help of a crane from the Urta Osiyo Qurilish enterprise, and the workers, who violated labor safety rules, fell down.
The bodies of three workers were found in a pipe at a sewer distribution point in Zarmanok neighborhood of Bukhara province. The search for the other two bodies is ongoing.
A criminal case has been opened under the Violation of labor safety rules charge of the Criminal Code.
