An Uzbek man, 29, died in the mountains of the Turkestan province of Kazakhstan. A young Kazakh man who accompanied him was rescued, the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations said today.

Reportedly, on September 1, the Turkestan province Emergency Situations Department (ESD) received a report about the disappearance of two young men. They went to the mountains of Shymkent city on August 31 and did not return.

The search was carried out in the area of Sayramsu peak, at a 2,200 meter altitude, in the territory of Sayram-Ugam national nature park, 8 km from the village of Qasqasu.

During the operation in the area of Games of Goodwill pass, the ESD rescuers set up voice communication with one of the tourists. He said that the second participant, a citizen of Uzbekistan fell into a ravine and was injured.

A total of 18 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, forestry, and police departments and 5 pieces of equipment, drones, and a helicopter were involved in the rescue operation. Due to the difficult terrain and rocky terrain, the helicopter could not approach the scene, and the rescue team continued its movement on foot.

Five professional climbers from the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation were called to help from the base in Shymkent. The climbers climbed the rocks with the help of special equipment and found the surviving tourist, as well as the body of the deceased tourist. They were taken down.

The rescued person was evacuated. The body of the deceased was handed over to police officers.
