The deputy mayor for women’s affairs of Saryosiyo district in Surkhandarya province, Dilfuza Toshmatova has been forcing activists in neighborhoods to pick cotton. Kun.uz news publication said it had received video footages and audio about this. The deputy mayor called the activists “unscrupulous.”

Dilfuza Toshmatova said that each activist had to bring another 5 people, and 150 people should “swallow the field without chewing.”

"Are you doing this in return the respect that we showed. Where is your attitude? Those who are coming, please be quick, let me know. I need to register now. How many people and how many kilos will you pick by lunchtime? We are now making calculations.

“The mayor himself is also coming now specifically. That is the field assigned to the women. We are going to Alijon. We will pick from that farmer. Now they are organizing tomorrow's schedule as well. I will have the timesheet. Don't make excuses, don't play games.”

The norm is you should provide five people each. Tomorrow, 150 people should swallow the field without chewing. We need to increase the number of people to achieve this," said the deputy mayor.

Also, Dilfuza Tashmatova stood in the cotton field and called the activists unscrupulous.

“If you come earlier and do your quota, we will all leave earlier. Why is there no one yet?! Are you a woman or not, disgraceful? Unscrupulous! If you come, be sure to come, and be quick, if you don’t want to work, get the hell outta here,” she said.

The deputy mayor said: Those of you who want to write resignation letters, just leave “without lecturing”, I will not keep you, and if they don’t, you must do the work.”
