Bill proposing harsher penalties is being discussed for illegally wearing by individuals of uniforms of personnel of ministries, departments and organizations, as well as for using uniforms that mimick military or departmental uniform.

The Bill has proposed to amend the Article 209 of the Administrative Offences Code as follows:

  • for wearing clothing mimicking military, departmental or special uniforms, as well as uniforms with distinctive signs and symbols of government bodies will be punishable with a fine of 2 to 5 BCUs (824 thousand - 2 million 60 thousand soums) will be imposed with confiscation of uniform;
  • for putting into circulation or using clothing that mimicks military or departmental uniform in color, style of tailoring or elements, the fine will be 5 to 10 BCUs (2.060 million - 4.12 million soums) with confiscation.

The Bill’s authors initiators emphasized that the proposed measures were aimed at preventing cases of illegal use of uniforms and ensuring their clear affiliation with the relevant bodies.
