A bus and a van fell into a hole due to subsidence of the road surface in Tashkent’s Mirzo-Ulugbek district. According to social media reports, an excavator that was trying to pull the bus out overturned.
According to the Toshshahartranskhizmat, today at about 5:40 a.m. near the TTZ Bozori bus stop on Gulsanam street, a 101 route MAN bus fell into a hole that when it stopped. The right side of the vehicle sank into the ground.
According to the company, the cause of the subsidence was a water leak from nearby water pipes that had been previously covered up after construction work. Reportedly, the bus passengers were not injured.
The bus was pulled out at about 10:10 a.m., repaired, sanitized, and put back on the road.
The Toshkent Shahar Suv Taminoti company reported that a 400 mm diameter pipe was being replaced at this site because its service life had expired, which was causing regular leaks.
