President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who landed to attend the next meeting of the strategic dialogue between the two countries' foreign ministers Friday, the presidential press service said.
The parties discussed the practical aspects to further deepen the Uzbek-Chinese comprehensive, all-weather strategic partnership ties and multifaceted cooperation in the light of high-level agreements.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister conveyed to the Uzbek leader the sincere greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The parties commended that, thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the heads of state, bilateral ties had reached an unprecedented high.
Last year, the bilateral trade reached $14 billion, with the number of joint ventures standing at 5,000, and year-to-date, almost $15 billion in Chinese investment had been disbursed. The portfolio of technology partnership projects has approached $90 billion.
They focused on the ways to promote cooperation in high technology, green and nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, geology, chemistry, and other areas.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed out the need for thorough preparation for upcoming high-level events and emphasized the importance of actively implementing the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project and its integration with other transport routes.
They also focused on coordination on matters related to socio-economic reconstruction in Afghanistan and security, stressing the need to continue close political dialogue and interaction in multilateral formats, support inter-university cooperation, projects in poverty alleviation, tourism development, and other areas.
