President Mirziyoyev signed Measures to effectively organize the activities of internal affairs bodies in the field of protection decree. In accordance with the document, the General Department Protection of National Guard was reorganized into the Department of Protection under the Interior Ministry.
According to the decree, the following duties have been assigned to the Department of Protection and its provincial units:
- protection of state, extremely important, classified and other objects, educational institutions, property of individuals and legal entities, trade, service, entertainment and construction facilities using modern methods on the basis of the contract;
- ensuring internal order and control regimes in protected objects;
- wide implementation of modern information and communication tools and artificial intelligence technologies in security activities.
The Decree states that from January 1, 2026, face recognizing devices will be gradually installed at the entrances and exits at banks, large manufacturing enterprises, local mayor’s offices and a number of other facilities under protection.
Reportedly these steps are aimed at increasing the efficiency of security services and facilities, enhancing public order, and strengthening control based on modern digital technologies.
