Seven-month-old boy successfully underwent a liver transplant, making him the youngest child in Uzbekistan to undergo the life-saving surgery, the press service of the provincial Children's National Medical Center.
Reportedly, the boy's mother donated a part of her liver which was transplanted after a successful surgery. Before the surgery, both the mother and the child underwent all necessary examinations.
The mother was discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition. The child remains under medical observation; his condition is stable and satisfactory, and he is expected to be discharged home in the coming days.
It is worth noting that such surgeries on children under one year old are among the most complex and are performed in only a few countries.
