The State Security Service (SSS) reported two cases of seizures of large drug batches imported from Tajikistan, totaling nearly 110 kg.

In the first case, two residents of Bulungur district of Samarkand province (aged 28 and 29) smuggled 79 kg 358 grams of opium and hid it for further sale. The drugs were seized as evidence. Later, based on the testimony of one of the detainees, 1 kg 953 grams of methamphetamine was seized, hidden in a field plot.

In the second case, two residents of Uzun district of Surkhandarya province (aged 28 and 31), as well as a Tajik national, 28, were detained by SSS Border Troops while attempting to import 30 kg 357 grams of opium in backpacks. The investigation found that they were to deliver the drugs to a specific address in exchange for a cash reward. During the investigation, the mastermind behind the attack, a 39-year-old resident of Denau, was arrested.

Criminal cases have been opened for both incidents under the Smuggling charge and the Illegal manufacture, acquisition, possession, and other actions involving narcotics for the purpose of sale or sale charge of the Criminal Code, with the suspects being kept in custody.
