During his trip to Japan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka, the presidential press service said.

The parties discussed the ways to expand cooperation and advancing joint projects, whose portfolio has surpassed $8 billion.

Projects worth over $3 billion are under development in the fields of healthcare, energy, transport, education, and industry.

President Mirziyoyev praised Japan's long-standing support for the activities of the Uzbek-Japanese Center for Human Resource Development and the Youth Innovation Center.

The parties also focused on expanding JICA's involvement in the energy projects, supporting youth and women's entrepreneurship, creating jobs employment and combating poverty, training engineering personnel, and scaling up the "One Village, One Product" project.

They expressed their readiness to launch the project to create a special economic zone for Japanese investors as soon as possible.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of timely preparation and ensuring the sustainability of project results under the new cooperation program with JICA until 2030.
