Islom Abdurakhmanov has been appointed as the chairman of Uzbekhydroenergo for a three-year term, the company announced on Friday following the extraordinary general shareholders meeting.

Earlier, on December 17, Islom Abdurakhmanov was appointed as interim chairman following the transition of the previous chairman, Abdugani Sanginov, to the position of Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz job. Islom Abdurakhmanov is Abdugani Sanginov's son.

From 2008 to 2012, he studied at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, from 2013 to 2015 at the Tashkent State Technical University (graduate degree), and from 2017 to 2021 at the Tashkent State University of Economics.

From 2014 to 2015, he worked as an engineer and section foreman in the production and technical department of the Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant modernization project. From 2016 to 2017, he worked as engineer at production and technical department of the Tashkent City Electric Grid Company. From 2017 to 2018, he was an inspector in the Tashkent City Department of the Uzenergoinspektsiya under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. Since 2018, he had served as the General Director of To'palang HPD Holding.
