Uzbek Defense Minister Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov and Turkish National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler signed a Military Cooperation Agreement For 2026 in Ankara, the Uzbek ministry's press service said.
The ministers held meetings both one-on-one and with delegations. The counterparts reportedly discussed regional security, defense industry, military training, and coordination between the two countries' militaries.
The 2026 Military Cooperation Plan includes joint military exercises and exchange of experience.
Deals in military medicine provide for advanced training of military doctors from both countries, the study of military hospital management and military medical technologies, the exchange of experience, and the conduct of training.
The minister Khalmukhamedov emphasized that Turkey's experience would help modernize the Uzbek army and enhance its capacity, while Yaşar Güler noted that the ties with Uzbekistan were reaching the level of a strategic partnership.
