President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, currently taking place in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
Upon his arrival at the capital’s Baku Congress Centre, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was welcomed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme, Anacláudia Rossbach.
The theme of this year's forum is "Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities." The high-level event brings together heads of state and government, chiefs of international organizations, and leaders of global development institutions.
The forum's agenda focuses on the sustainable development of cities, expanding public access to modern and affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, and strengthening climate resilience. Additionally, participants are addressing the development of social and transport infrastructure, alongside the improvement of housing finance mechanisms.
The president Mirziyoyev is scheduled to address the Leaders' Summit of the forum.
