The National Statistics Committee has released demographic data on the child population in Uzbekistan to mark the International Children's Day on June 1.

According to the committee, as of January 1, 2026, the total number of children aged 0 to 14 in the country stands at 11,630,879.

The gender breakdown is as follows:

  • boys: 6,030,736
  • girls: 5,600,143

The data confirms that the birth rate for boys remains higher in Uzbekistan. During the first quarter of 2026, the country registered a total of 191,086 live births. Out of this total, 98.5 thousand were boys, while 92.6 thousand were girls.

Statistically, boys accounted for 51.5% of the newborn population, compared to 48.5% for girls.

Geographically, the majority of births were documented in rural areas. Specifically, 97.4 thousand births were registered in rural areas, compared to 93.7 thousand in urban centers.
