President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Saint Petersburg on June 4–5 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Uzbek president's press office announced.
Mirziyoyev is set to address the plenary session of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is being held under the theme "Pragmatic Dialogue as a Path to a Stable Future."
He is expected to share his perspective on the state of the global economy, the prospects for Uzbek-Russian economic cooperation, and Uzbekistan's current development priorities.
The visit's agenda also includes a one-on-one meeting with Vladimir Putin and attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony for Uzbekistan's first integrated nuclear power plant. The facility is being built in the Jizzakh province — concrete work began in March.
The plant is considered the world's first integrated nuclear power station of its kind, in that it will combine two large power units — each equipped with a VVER-1000 reactor rated at 1 GW — alongside two small modular units using RITM-200N reactors rated at 55 MW each.
