A man has been arrested in Yangiyul district of Tashkent province for attempting to illegally sell 1.5 hectares of state-reserve land for $750,000, according to the State Security Service (DXX).

The suspect, a Tashkent resident, 47, targeted an aspiring business owner. He claimed he could use influential connections within the local architecture and land registry departments to officially register the state-owned plot under the entrepreneur's name. In exchange for this fraudulent service, he demanded $750,000.

During a sting operation conducted jointly by the DXX’s Tashkent Provinceal Directorate and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the suspect was caught red-handed while accepting a $20,000 down payment.

A criminal case has been initiated against him, and an investigation is currently underway.

This arrest follows similar recent crackdowns across the country. In May, a farmer in Surxondaryo was exposed for attempting to sell 7.7 hectares of land for 800 million soums. Around the same time, officials in Andijan were detained for demanding bribes in exchange for processing land deeds.
