Uzbekistan is set to implement large-scale projects throughout 2026–2027 to boost energy efficiency across schools, preschools, and healthcare facilities. This initiative will focus on modernizing infrastructure and integrating renewable energy sources.
The Cabinet of Ministers has officially approved an action plan targeting energy conservation across public social institutions.
Under this directive, a targeted list of facilities in the Jizzakh province has been approved for these energy efficiency upgrades. Additionally, specific roadmaps have been established to create model energy-efficient neighborhoods in the Denau and Gallaorol districts.
The government decree outlines comprehensive upgrades for these public buildings. Key measures include installing solar thermal collectors, deploying solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, improving building insulation, and introducing other energy-saving technologies.
At the same time, plans are underway to modernize and reconstruct selected facilities based on the "Net-Zero Energy Buildings" concept. This approach is designed to drastically reduce the overall energy consumption of these structures.
According to the government decree, the energy auditing system will be overhauled, and oversight regarding the efficient use of energy resources at public social institutions will be significantly tightened.
Officials emphasized that these measures will successfully curb energy consumption in public institutions, optimize state budget expenditures, and expand the practical adoption of renewable energy sources across the country.
