During an official working visit to Saint Petersburg, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The discussions centered on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.
Both sides spoke highly of the positive momentum in trade and economic cooperation, noting that the volume of bilateral trade has grown by 20% since the beginning of the year.
The leaders also reviewed the progress of major joint projects currently underway across key sectors, including industry, energy, metallurgy, transport, the chemical industry, and other priority areas of the economy.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of sustaining this strong trade growth, accelerating cooperation projects, and broadening interregional ties.
Particular attention was paid to the development of cultural and humanitarian relations. In this context, the leaders highlighted two recent milestones: the premiere of George Frideric Handel's opera Tamerlano at the Mariinsky Theatre, and the opening of an exhibition of Uzbek applied arts at the State Hermitage Museum.
At the close of the meeting, the two heads of state also discussed their agenda of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
