New mayors have assumed office in the cities of Nurafshon and Almalyk in the Tashkent province. First, during an extraordinary session of the Nurafshon City Council of People's Deputies, an organizational matter was reviewed, and Ilkhom Mahmudjonovich Kilichkhonov was relieved of his duties as city mayor due to his transfer to another position.

Provincial Governor Zoyir Mirzaev nominated Qobil Hamdamov for the post of Nurafshon mayor. The council members subsequently approved his appointment. Hamdamov had been serving as the mayor of Almalyk since October 2020.

On the same day, an extraordinary session of the Almalyk City Council of People's Deputies was also held. To fill the vacancy left by Qobil Hamdamov's move to Nurafshon, Barhayot Bakhtiyorjonovich Meliev was nominated for the mayoral office of Almalyk. Prior to this, Meliev served as the Head of the Tashkent Province Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change. The council members confirmed his appointment.

Ilkhom Kilichkhonov had been leading the city of Nurafshon since April 2023. In April of this year, he, along with several other provinceal leaders, faced criticism during a video-conference meeting led by the President, who ordered a review of these officials' suitability for office. There is currently no information available regarding the new position to which Kilichkhonov has been transferred.
