Karakalpakstan has officially approved the operational guidelines for its special crypto-mining zone, according to the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP).

The newly enacted regulation outlines the zone’s operational framework, eligibility criteria for potential residents, registration documentation requirements, and available incentives.

Under the framework, crypto-mining enterprises will be permitted to draw electricity from both the unified national power grid and alternative energy installations. Eligible alternative sources include renewable energy facilities and hydrogen power plants.

To secure their energy supply, companies are also authorized to develop and operate low-yield, marginally profitable oil and gas fields, as well as sites lacking modern infrastructure for hydrocarbon transportation.

The special regulatory zone will encompass the entire territory of Karakalpakstan. Furthermore, the document establishes comprehensive rules for issuing, renewing, modifying, and revoking operational permits, monitoring resident compliance, and regulating the sale of mined crypto-assets.
