The World Alliance of Islamic Civilization is set to be established in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Committee for Religious Affairs said in a statement.
Participants at the 1st International Forum of Islamic Civilization, held in Tashkent, unanimously adopted a declaration encompassing 10 key initiatives. Nearly 300 foreign delegates from over 40 countries voted in one accord to support the creation of the World Alliance of Islamic Civilization under this declaration.
To be established on the foundation of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Alliance will bring together international organizations, scientific and educational institutions, academies of sciences, museums, libraries, archives, centers of Islamic manuscripts, research institutes, and other specialized agencies.
The Alliance’s primary objective is to foster long-term international cooperation and implement joint academic, educational, cultural, museum, and digital projects. It also aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge and best practices, while uniting global efforts to preserve, scientifically study, popularize, and broadly showcase the creative potential of Islamic civilization as an integral part of world cultural and intellectual heritage.
Furthermore, an international award will be established to honor outstanding contributions to the study, preservation, and popularization of Islamic civilizational heritage, as well as the advancement of science, education, intercultural dialogue, and humanitarian cooperation.
The 1st International Forum of Islamic Civilization, themed "Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance, and Enlightenment," took place from July 7 to 11 in the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez.
