A fatal traffic accident involving three official police motorcycles occurred at the intersection of Durmon Yuli and Gazalkent streets in Tashkent on the evening of July 16.

The exact moment of the high-speed collision was captured by a dashboard camera in a nearby vehicle, with subsequent videos of the wreckage widely circulated by social media users.

As seen in the footage, several law enforcement officers were directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the intersection. After a van and another car passed through at high speed, the officers cleared the intersection and signaled for traffic to resume. The traffic light turned green, and a passenger car began moving forward.

Just as the car entered the intersection, two police motorcycles riding side-by-side crashed into it at high speed, followed immediately by a third motorcycle. The third motorcycle caught fire instantly upon impact. The passenger car sustained severe damage and was thrown into the oncoming lane, where it collided with two other vehicles. Traffic on the section of the road where the accident occurred was temporarily suspended but reopened once the wreckage was cleared.

Zoyir Yuldashev, the press secretary for the Road Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, confirmed that one traffic police officer operating a patrol motorcycle died at the scene. "Those who sustained bodily injuries are currently receiving medical attention," he stated, though he did not specify the exact number of casualties. Pre-investigative proceedings into the incident are currently underway. Yuldashev explicitly denied that the accident occurred while escorting an official motorcade, dismissing rumors circulating on social media as incorrect.

However, public skepticism remains high as the dashcam footage appears to directly challenge the spokesman's denial. Observers point out that just moments before the traffic police officers cleared the intersection, possibly a black Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van passed through at high speed. In Uzbekistan, this specific vehicle type and color configuration is heavily associated with state security details and routinely accompanies the fast-moving corteges of high-ranking government officials. The presence of the van, combined with the sudden clearing of the intersection by local officers, strongly indicates that the patrol motorcycles were clearing the tail-end of a VIP motorcade route when the fatal crash occurred.
