The number of teachers working at general secondary schools in Uzbekistan reached 577,700 at the start of the 2025/26 school year, excluding those holding concurrent positions, according to the National Statistics Committee.
That is up by 12,800, or 2.3%, from the 2024/25 school year. Women made up 72.5% of teachers, or 418,800, while men accounted for 27.5%, or 158,900.
By province, the number of teachers was as follows:
- Samarkand province: 65,100;
- Kashkadarya province: 65,100;
- Fergana province: 60,600;
- Surkhandarya province: 52,300;
- Andijan province: 46,300;
- Namangan province: 42,600;
- Republic of Karakalpakstan: 40,700;
- Tashkent province: 40,200;
- Khorezm province: 35,100;
- Tashkent city: 34,100;
- Bukhara province: 33,400;
- Jizzakh province: 25,700;
- Navoi province: 22,300;
- Syrdarya province: 14,200.
Samarkand and Kashkadarya provinces had the most teachers, while Syrdarya province had the fewest.
The number of teachers at general secondary schools has risen every year over the past decade:

- 2021/22: 510,000;
