Electricity generation in Uzbekistan rose 8.4% in January-September 2026 from a year earlier, reaching 69.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), the Energy Ministry said.
The increase was 5.4 billion kWh. Thermal power plants produced 49.1 billion kWh, large solar and wind plants 10.5 billion kWh, and hydroelectric plants 6.6 billion kWh, according to the ministry.
Large solar and wind plants reached their full-year 2025 output in nine months, the ministry said. Hydroelectric plants exceeded the 6.5 billion kWh generated in all of last year, and small solar plants produced 2.5 billion kWh, up 500 million kWh.
Consumption in the country rose 6.3% to 68.1 billion kWh. Consumers received 53 billion kWh, of which 14 billion kWh went to households.
Exports climbed 21.4% to 3.4 billion kWh, while imports fell 27.2% to 1.9 billion kWh, the ministry said.
The ministry plans to generate 94.6 billion kWh by the end of 2026, with annual consumption expected to reach 92.2 billion kWh.
Uzbekistan had earlier announced plans to raise annual generation to more than 129 billion kWh by 2030. The plan calls for 22,000 megawatts of new capacity and a 54% share for renewables.
