The Ministry of Sports has presented a draft presidential decree aimed at popularizing football from the mahalla (neighborhood) level and expanding the system for training professional players.
Under the draft, “Mahalla League” tournaments will be organized and mini-football pitches meeting FIFA Arena standards will be built in every mahalla.
The draft also provides for establishing district football clubs and the Republican Girls’ Football Academy, as well as drawing talented young people into professional football.
Senior officials of the Uzbekistan Football Association took part in the presentation. Participants discussed developing football starting at the mahalla level, improving football infrastructure, strengthening the performance of professional clubs and preparing players who can compete internationally.
The discussion focused on four areas: grassroots development through mahallas, football infrastructure, professional clubs and training players for international competition.
