The Turkish Akça Holding plans to launch textile production units in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) said.

On November 29, Deputy PM/Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev hosted a BOD member of Akça Holding, Ahmet Bilge Göksan. The parties discussed the implementation of new joint projects in the textile industry, renewable energy sources, agriculture and engineering.

Akça Holding proposed to implement a new$250 million textile project in Namangan province. The products will target the markets of the USA, Europe, Brazil, Canada and other countries. At full capacity, the plant will create 12-15 thousand new jobs.

Deputy PM Khodjaev expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to investors at all stages of the project.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-October, exports of textile products topped $2.6 billion, which accounted for 17% of total exports and increased by 10.7% compared to the same period last year. Almost 40% of deliveries go to Russia, and then to Turkey and Kyrgyzstan.
