Inauguration ceremony of a monument symbolizing the fight against corruption took place today in the Tashkent City Business District, the presidential press service said.

The ceremony was attended by the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The event was also attended by UN Assistant Secretary-General Alexander Zuev and officials from foreign countries.

A twelve-meter transparent metal composition in depicting a hand pointing upward with open fingers means honesty and purity of actions and thoughts, absolute rejection of corruption and a call to countries around the world to unite in the fight against it.

The Emir of Qatar landed today in Tashkent to attend the ceremony of awarding the International Anti-Corruption Award.

The award, established at the initiative of the Emir of Qatar, has been awarded annually since 2016 to prominent public figures, experts and journalists in recognition of their efforts to combat corruption globally.
