President signed decree on January 4 allowing businesses, that own cameras for recording traffic violations will be entitled to record environmental violations.
After recording an environmental violation, businesses can notify the State Environmental Control Inspectorate and will get receive 20% of the fine to be collected.
While, it is planned to provide the opportunity for individuals, on their own initiative, to submit applications to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change to install cameras at their own expense in areas that have been turned into garbage dumps, or where illegal waste dumping is systematically observed.
Officers of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs that are hired as eco patrols will also get a cash reward of 10% the fine collected for environmental violations.
Also, it is planned to introduce a system for recording environmental violations through cameras of the integrated Safe City system.
Over 11 thousand violations related to waste disposal in the wrong place have been identified in Uzbekistan year-to-date.
