The State Asset Management Agency has temporarily suspended the privatization of the Pakhtakor football club. “Having studied the public opinion, please be informed that the process of public sale of 100% government stake of Pakhtakor Football Club LLC has been temporarily suspended,” the Agency’s statement said.

The asset was put up for sale on January 17, with sale envisaged to take place in

two stages. The club's facilities are located on an area of 24.1 hectares, which prompted discussions.

In particular, the Pakhtakor stadium is located in the center of Tashkent - next to the Ankhor River and close to important government facilities - the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers, and on the other side - the Tashkent City complex.

The sale was not meant to take the form of an open auction, but the form of accepting bids from bidders.

Among the privatization requirements was the use of all sports facilities, including the football pitch, owned by a football club, exclusively for sports activities.
