Uzbek parents could be prohibited from using corporal punishment to their children. This is provided for in the draft bill aimed at regulating relations in the field of protection of children from all forms of violence.

At its February 27 meeting, the MPs of the Legislative Chamber conceptually considered the bill and adopted in the first reading.

The draft bill defines the participation of parents and their obligations in protecting children from violence. In particular, it has proposed that parents must protect the life and health of children, take care of them and protect them from information that has a harmful effect, prohibits to physically punish children.

It also states that violence against children is not allowed in educational institutions, any form of violence, including physical punishment and other cruel acts or degrading treatment, are not allowed as a measure of disciplinary punishment in educational institutions.

MPs underscored that the adoption of the bill will help to regulate relations in the field of protection of children from all forms of violence, to improve the legal basis for children's exercising their rights, freedoms and legal interests and to respect them, to be intolerant of cases of violence against children, and to ensure the inevitability of responsibility for the perpetrators of violence. serves.
