Aircraft landing and taking off were temporarily suspended at the Tashkent airport at 16:03 due to wind shift, the Uzbekistan Airports said today.
Several flights were diverted to an alternate airfield in Samarkand. In particular:
- HH-2232 of Qanot Sharq airlines on the Cam Ranh-Tashkent route (landing at 16:35);
- HY-9732 of Uzbekistan Airways airlines on the Makhachkala-Tashkent route (landing at 16:42);
- HY-424 of Uzbekistan Airways airlines on the Delhi-Tashkent route (landing at 16:51).
Whiel, the KC-123 of Air Astana airlines’ Astana to Tashkent flight decided to divert to an alternate airfield in Turkestan.
When the situation stabilized, restrictions were lifted at 16:30. The airport is now operating normally, the company added.
Aircraft that landed at alternate airfields are preparing to fly to Tashkent.
Wind shear is a situation where the wind suddenly changes direction or speed over a short distance. It can be horizontal or vertical, affecting the aircraft during level flight, takeoff or landing.
