The MPs passed a bill in the first reading for further market reform and aimed at accelerating the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO.

Exclusive rights of some large state-owned enterprises will be gradually lifted as part of market reforms and harmonization of legislation as one of the main conditions for membership in the WTO.

Thus, the bill will amend the Licensing, permitting and notification procedures Law and the State duty Law. That is, it provides for a procedure for licensing activities for the procurement (purchase), processing and sale of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as wholesale and retail trade in natural gas.

The bill is aimed at attracting the private sector and innovations to the trade in scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, natural gas, as well as creating a competitive and open market environment.
