Paid governmental services in Uzbekistan will become available in banking and financial apps, the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
“The goal has been set to make available these services in other apps: banking, financial. Last year, we already started this experiment with free governmental services. Today, the president gave a directive to provide them with the opportunity to provide paid governmental services as well,” he said.
“Since the clients of these apps are accustomed to working on their interfaces, this creates additional convenience so that users can additionally receive paid services through these apps,” the minister noted.
According to him, the president also gave directives to transfer all available online governmental services to the single portal My.gov.uz (EPIGU). In addition, it is planned to expand their list so that at least 70% of governmental services of different levels can be obtained through this portal.
But for this, the minister stressed, serious work is also required on the part of governmental agencies so that they implement new information systems to digitalize their internal processes.
Sherzod Shermatov emphasized that Uzbekistan had become a leader among the CIS countries in terms of growth rates of the telecommunications sector. It is expected that this year, the export of IT services from Uzbekistan will surpass $1 billion - this figure was originally planned to be achieved by 2028.
The minister also focused on attracting foreign investors to the IT sector of Uzbekistan. According to him, more than 30 new foreign-invested companies are being opened in Uzbekistan every month. For comparison: in 2017, there were less than 10 such companies. According to a recent survey by the Center for Economic Research, most foreign companies and their employees are satisfied with the conditions in the country and are ready to recommend Uzbekistan to other investors as a convenient location for business.
