The government has announced the holding of a nationwide hashar (clean-up) day on September 22-23 ahead of the Independence Day across Uzbekistan under the slogan “A well-maintained and prosperous neighbourhood is the adornment of the country”, the UzA said.

As part of the hashar, it is planned to clean mahallas (neighbourhoods), courtyards, apartment buildings, squares, pilgrimage sites, cemeteries, streets and playgrounds. Whitewashing and pruning of trees, as well as garbage removal to specially designated places are planned.

The hashar participants will be provided with the necessary equipment and inventory.

In May 2018, the government issued a resolution that determined that the public can contribute to hashars exclusively on voluntary basis and strictly on the territory of an entity in which the hashar participants work, in compliance with labor protection and safety standards.
