Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Issues, Erkin Gadoev has sent a request to the Transport Ministry to report on traffic jams on Tashkent city roads, which are adversely impacting the daily lives of Tashkenters and guests.
Especially with the beginning of the school year, traffic jams have intensified affecting most of the Tashkent city, and at times reaching the highest level - 10 points of magnitude, spiking traveling times.
According to a study, about 1 million people visit the capital every day, 275 thousand of whom come from Tashkent province. The fact that thousands of cars from neighboring provinces ingress the capital in mornings and return in evenings further exacerbates the traffic jams.
The senator has requested the Ministry to provide detailed information on the measures being taken to reduce traffic jams in Tashkent, the current state of affairs of the Smart Transport system, the process of transferring public transport to the Greater Tashkent format, as well as the implementation of the directives set by the president and the reasons for their delays.
