Samarkand will host the 57th meeting of the Chiefs of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS Member States and the 21st meeting of the Conference of Chiefs of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the CIS on October 16-17, the press service of the State Security Service said.

In the meeting will be present the chiefs of the special services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.

The main topics of discussion will reportedly be strengthening cooperation and collaboration in ensuring security in the CIS states, including in countering international terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime, threats to information security, and combating the illicit international trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the statement said.

The attendees are also expected to address a wide range of issues related to current threats and coordination of actions and to identify the goals and areas of cooperation to ensure regional and global security.
